David G. McMillan

Founder & CEO

David McMillan is a veteran neon glass blower with over 40 years of hands-on experience in the sign industry. Raised in a family rooted in visual craftsmanship—his father a respected graphic sign designer with a 50-year career—David was drawn early to the glow of noble gases and the hum of high-voltage transformers. Over time, he immersed himself in the lost art of hand-bent neon, developing a deep respect for the techniques and traditions of early 20th-century sign makers.

Through decades of dedication, David grew to operate the largest electrical sign company in Southern Oregon and Northern California. He’s led crews, restored rare vintage pieces, and produced iconic custom signage for clients up and down the West Coast.

A master of neon restoration and a forward-thinking artisan, David blends modern materials—like LED halo lighting—with weathered patinas, classic paint techniques, and time-honored fabrication methods. As the founder of Fire Creek Neon and The Institute of Neon Arts, he’s now entering a new chapter: preserving the craft by mentoring and training the next generation of neon artists. Whether reviving century-old porcelain gas signs or designing new pieces inspired by Art Deco geometry and American roadside culture, David’s work is rooted in history, powered by purpose, and always lit with soul.
